The Conductor

Hello, my name is Ildi Dittrich

I’m a conductive education practitioner with over 25 years of experience, throughout which I have been working with babies, toddlers and young children with gross and fine motor challenges due to either cerebral palsy or developmental delays caused by damage of the central nervous system (CNS) during or after birth. During my extensive years of practice I was fortunate to help hundreds of young children to live a fuller life and to realise their potentials.

My main motivator as a practitioner has been the families’ aspiration to see their son or daughter overcoming those developmental challenges, and beginning  to reach their developmental milestone as we work together.

I also have spent many years collaborating with speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, neuro-developmental therapists, early childhood, early intervention and vision teachers who I learnt a lot from. I believe working with these experts has greatly enhanced my professional practice and at the end of the day results in better outcomes for the children as well.

I have attended several national and international conferences on Conductive Education, for example in Germany, Hong-Kong, and Sweden, and also presented papers about Conductive Education.

I have also been fortunate enough to visit several Conductive Education centres around the world (Vienna, Munich, Copenhagen, Denmark, Gothenburg, Birmingham, Newcastle, Pamplona, Vancouver, Sydney, and  Brisbane). Each centre taught me something that I have brought home with me to New Zealand.

As a conductive education practitioner I have worked privately in Austria and Germany and at my previous employment in Auckland, where I worked with children for 25 years both one-on-one and in group settings.

Is Conductive Therapy right for your child?

You can book an initial consultation of approx. 30 minutes.

It gives you the opportunity to share your child’s progress, challenges, and your goals for them in the future.

During the consultation we will observe your child’s movements and explore what they can presently do with and without support. Based on this observations we will be able to assess whether we are right for your child.
